Job Brief

As a Contracting Manager, you will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of buyers, purchasing officers, and related personnel involved in acquiring materials, products, and services. This role requires a strategic mindset and extensive experience in procurement management, negotiation, and supplier relationship management. Key skills include leadership, analytical thinking, and proficiency in contract law and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize procurement processes and reduce costs.
  • Oversee the negotiation and administration of contracts with suppliers to ensure compliance with organizational standards.
  • Manage a team of purchasing professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Analyze market trends and supplier performance to inform purchasing decisions and enhance supplier relationships.
  • Coordinate with various departments to understand procurement needs and ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and other relevant data to support financial planning and audits.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies related to procurement and contracting.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with purchasing activities and supplier relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in procurement management, contract negotiation, or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, contract law, and vendor management.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess supplier performance and market conditions.
  • Certifications such as Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) are advantageous.
