Job Brief

The Construction Estimator plays a crucial role in the planning and financial management of construction projects. A background in civil engineering or construction management, along with several years of experience in cost estimation, is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze project blueprints, specifications, and other documents to prepare accurate cost estimates.
  • Conduct thorough quantity takeoffs to assess material and labor needs.
  • Collaborate with project managers and subcontractors to gather necessary pricing information.
  • Prepare and present detailed estimates, including labor, materials, and overhead costs.
  • Review and adjust estimates based on changes to project scope or specifications.
  • Maintain a database of historical cost data to improve future estimates.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Assist in preparing bids and proposals for upcoming projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., Sage Estimating, Bluebeam).
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and pricing trends.
  • Certifications such as Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) are a plus.
