Job Brief
The Computer Aided Drafting and Design Instructor plays a pivotal role in delivering vocational education focused on CAD software and design principles. This position requires an individual with extensive knowledge of drafting techniques, engineering principles, and industry-standard software applications. The instructor will engage students who have recently graduated from high school or those pursuing further vocational training, equipping them with the practical skills needed for careers in construction, manufacturing, and engineering design.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver comprehensive lesson plans covering CAD software, drafting techniques, and design fundamentals.
- Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback to enhance learning outcomes.
- Incorporate hands-on projects and real-world applications to foster practical skills in students.
- Maintain an organized classroom environment and ensure all necessary equipment and materials are available.
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in computer-aided design.
- Collaborate with other vocational instructors to create interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance instructional skills and knowledge.
- Advise students on career pathways and further educational opportunities in the design and drafting fields.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Design, Engineering, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
- Proven experience in Computer Aided Design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar applications.
- Previous teaching or training experience in a vocational education setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and motivate students.
- Ability to develop curriculum and assess students’ progress through various evaluation methods.
- Certification in CAD or related fields is a plus.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in drafting and design.
