Job Brief
As a Collections Clerk, you will play a critical role in managing delinquent accounts and ensuring timely payments. This position requires proactive communication with customers through mail, telephone, or in-person visits to collect outstanding debts. Responsibilities
- Locate and notify customers of delinquent accounts via various communication methods.
- Solicit payment and negotiate repayment plans with customers to resolve outstanding debts.
- Receive payments and accurately post amounts to customer accounts.
- Prepare detailed statements for the credit department if customers fail to respond.
- Initiate repossession proceedings or service disconnection when necessary.
- Maintain organized records of collection activities and account statuses.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries regarding their accounts.
- Collaborate with other departments to improve collection processes and customer relations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in finance or accounting is a plus.
- Proven experience in collections, customer service, or a related field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with customers.
- Proficiency in using collection software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to handle challenging conversations and negotiate effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to debt collection.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
