Job Brief
The City Treasurer is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the financial activities of the city, including accounting, investing, banking, insurance, and securities management. Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the city’s financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
- Develop and implement financial strategies to optimize the city’s investment portfolio.
- Prepare and present financial reports to city officials and stakeholders.
- Coordinate banking services and manage cash flow to ensure liquidity and financial stability.
- Monitor and analyze financial trends to inform budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Manage the city’s debt issuance and investment activities.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and financial reporting in accordance with applicable laws.
- Supervise finance department staff and enhance their professional development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in municipal finance, treasury management, or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles, and investment strategies.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools for analysis and reporting.
- Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Municipal Treasurer (CMT) is highly desirable.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proven leadership abilities and experience managing a finance team.
