Responsibilities
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and compliance.
- Oversee the preparation and management of the city’s budget, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
- Conduct regular audits and evaluations to assess financial performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Manage investment portfolios and banking relationships to maximize returns on city funds.
- Ensure accurate financial reporting and maintain records in accordance with governmental regulations.
- Provide financial analysis and forecasts to support strategic decision-making by city leadership.
- Collaborate with department heads to develop financial strategies that promote fiscal responsibility.
- Supervise the accounting team and ensure proper training and development of staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, preferably within a government or public sector environment.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation strongly preferred.
- Proficient in financial software and accounting systems; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
- Strong understanding of municipal finance, budgeting, and fiscal policy.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
