Job Brief

As a Churn Driller, you will be responsible for operating advanced drilling equipment, including rotary, churn, and pneumatic drills, to access subsurface water and mineral deposits. Your role will involve conducting core sampling during mineral exploration, soil testing, and facilitating the use of explosives in mining and construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of drilling techniques, safety protocols, and equipment maintenance, with prior experience in the drilling industry.

Responsibilities

  • Operate various drilling machinery, including rotary, churn, and pneumatic drills, to extract core samples and access subsurface resources.
  • Conduct soil tests and mineral exploration to assess site conditions and resource viability.
  • Implement safety procedures and best practices to ensure a safe working environment during drilling operations.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot drilling equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.
  • Collaborate with geologists and engineers to interpret geological data and adjust drilling plans accordingly.
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports on drilling progress, core samples, and any encountered challenges.
  • Assist in the deployment of explosives for mining and construction processes as required.
  • Train and mentor junior drillers and crew members on equipment operation and safety protocols.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in drilling operations is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Churn Driller or similar role within the drilling or mining industry.
  • Solid understanding of drilling techniques, soil mechanics, and geology.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and protocols related to drilling operations.
  • Ability to operate and maintain various types of drilling equipment effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate heavy machinery.
  • Certification in drilling operations or related fields is an advantage.
