The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a critical role in providing essential patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff in healthcare and nursing facilities. Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities, including feeding, bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Monitor and record patients’ vital signs and health status, reporting any changes to nursing staff.
- Support patient mobility and ambulation to enhance physical activity and independence.
- Provide assistance with toileting and incontinence care to maintain patient hygiene.
- Administer medications and perform health-related tasks as directed by licensed nursing staff.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and the healthcare team to provide updates on patient care.
- Document patient care activities accurately in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a state-approved nursing assistant training program.
- Current certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) from an accredited organization.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients and healthcare team.
- Ability to lift and move patients safely, following proper body mechanics.
- Empathy and compassion for patients, demonstrating a commitment to patient-centered care.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.
- Understanding of infection control procedures and patient safety protocols.
