Job Brief

The Cadastral Mapper plays a critical role in researching, studying, and preparing maps and spatial data for diverse applications including legal, social, political, educational, and design purposes. This position requires proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and the ability to design and evaluate algorithms, data structures, and user interfaces for mapping systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills for collecting, interpreting, and analyzing geographic information obtained from geodetic surveys, aerial photographs, and satellite data.

Responsibilities

  • Research and prepare accurate cadastral maps and spatial data for a variety of applications.
  • Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software to create and analyze spatial data.
  • Design and evaluate algorithms and data structures to enhance GIS and mapping systems.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret geographic information from various sources, including surveys and satellite imagery.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure maps meet legal and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain and update mapping databases to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Provide technical support and training for users of GIS and mapping systems.
  • Prepare reports and presentations based on mapping data and analysis findings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience with GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of cartography, land surveying, and spatial data management.
  • Expertise in data analysis and interpretation of geodetic surveys and remote sensing data.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R for GIS applications.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective stakeholder interaction.
  • Relevant certifications in GIS or surveying are a plus.
