Job Brief
As a Bus Dispatcher, you will play a critical role in coordinating the safe and efficient transport of passengers by scheduling and dispatching buses and drivers. You will utilize communication tools such as radio, telephone, and computer systems to transmit assignments and monitor the progress of routes. Ideal candidates will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of transportation logistics. Previous experience in dispatch operations or a related field is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and dispatch bus drivers and vehicles to ensure timely and efficient transit operations.
- Monitor and communicate with drivers to provide real-time updates and support.
- Compile statistics and reports on bus routes, service performance, and passenger counts.
- Coordinate emergency response procedures and adjust schedules as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance and service history.
- Resolve operational issues and address passenger inquiries in a professional manner.
- Implement safety protocols and ensure compliance with transportation regulations.
- Utilize dispatch software and GPS tracking systems to optimize route efficiency.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in transportation management is a plus.
- Proven experience in dispatching, logistics, or transportation operations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with drivers and passengers.
- Proficiency in using dispatch software, GPS systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of local traffic regulations and safety standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
