Job Brief
The Bridge Ironworker Helper assists skilled ironworkers in the construction and maintenance of bridges, ensuring structural integrity and safety. This entry-level role requires a foundational understanding of construction practices, physical fitness, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation and alignment of steel girders, beams, and other structural components.
- Support the preparation and maintenance of work areas, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Carry tools and materials to and from job sites, maintaining an organized and efficient workspace.
- Follow directions from lead ironworkers and supervisors to complete tasks effectively and on time.
- Participate in daily safety briefings and adhere to all safety protocols and policies.
- Help in the interpretation of blueprints and technical drawings as required.
- Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure their proper functioning.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in construction or trade preferred.
- Basic knowledge of construction techniques and safety procedures.
- Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy materials and work at heights.
- Familiarity with hand tools and safety equipment commonly used in ironworking.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and on different shifts.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
