Job Brief
The Boat Painter is responsible for applying various coatings and paints to boats and marine vessels using specialized spraying or rolling techniques. This role requires proficiency in operating painting equipment and knowledge of different materials such as lacquer, enamel, and rust-proofing agents. Candidates should possess a keen eye for detail and a solid understanding of safety protocols in a marine environment. Experience in the marine industry or a similar field is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate spraying or rolling machines to apply coatings on boats and marine vessels.
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, or priming to ensure optimal paint adhesion.
- Mix and match paints and coatings according to project specifications and color requirements.
- Inspect finished products for quality, ensuring a smooth and even application.
- Maintain painting equipment and tools, ensuring they are clean and in good working order.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
- Keep accurate records of materials used and work completed for project tracking.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in painting or related fields is a plus.
- Proven experience as a painter, ideally in the marine or automotive industry.
- Strong knowledge of different types of paints and coatings, including their applications and properties.
- Familiarity with painting equipment and tools, including airless sprayers and rolling machines.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing for long periods and lifting heavy materials.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver’s license may be required for transportation of materials.
