Job Brief
The Biochemistry Technician plays a critical role in supporting biological and medical scientists by conducting laboratory experiments and analyses. This position requires proficiency in operating and maintaining laboratory instruments and equipment, as well as the ability to monitor experiments, collect and analyze data, and produce accurate results. Ideal candidates will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a foundational knowledge of biochemistry principles.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Conduct experiments to analyze organic substances such as blood, food, and pharmaceuticals.
- Monitor experiments and collect data and samples systematically.
- Make detailed observations and accurately calculate and record results.
- Assist in preparing reports and presenting findings to scientists and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in laboratory operations.
- Maintain laboratory inventory and assist in ordering supplies as needed.
- Collaborate with team members to develop and improve laboratory procedures.
Requirements
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field.
- Experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably in biochemistry or life sciences.
- Proficiency in operating laboratory instruments and performing analytical techniques.
- Strong mathematical and statistical skills for data analysis.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and best practices.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Familiarity with data analysis software and laboratory information management systems (LIMS) is a plus.
