Job Brief

As a Banquet Chef, you will lead and manage the preparation, seasoning, and cooking of a variety of dishes, including salads, soups, fish, meats, vegetables, and desserts. This role requires a strong background in culinary arts, exceptional organizational skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality dining experiences. You will be responsible for menu planning and pricing, ordering supplies, and maintaining accurate records, ensuring all culinary operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee the preparation and cooking of all banquet menu items to ensure high-quality food presentation and taste.
  • Collaborate with event planners to create customized menus that align with client preferences and dietary requirements.
  • Manage kitchen staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to promote a collaborative team environment.
  • Monitor inventory levels and place orders for kitchen supplies and ingredients, ensuring all items are fresh and available.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and banquet areas, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular quality checks and tastings to uphold culinary standards and consistency across all dishes.
  • Assist in budgeting and cost control by efficiently managing food costs and minimizing waste.
  • Keep accurate records of food production, inventory, and labor costs for financial reporting.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Chef, preferably in a high-volume banquet or catering environment.
  • Strong culinary skills with a focus on menu development and food presentation.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations, with a valid food handler’s certification.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively manage kitchen staff.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Experience with inventory management and cost control in a culinary setting.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
