Job Brief
The Automotive Glass Technician is responsible for replacing and repairing broken windshields and window glass in various motor vehicles. This role requires a keen attention to detail, strong technical skills, and experience with automotive glass installation and repair. Successful candidates will demonstrate proficiency in using specialized tools and techniques to ensure the quality and safety of glass repairs and replacements.
Responsibilities
- Inspect damaged glass to determine the extent of repairs needed and assess whether replacement is necessary.
- Remove and replace windshields, side windows, and rear windows using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Prepare surfaces for adhesive bonding and apply adhesives according to manufacturer specifications.
- Calibrate advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) when applicable to ensure proper vehicle functionality post-repair.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to all safety guidelines and regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service by explaining the repair process and addressing customer inquiries.
- Document all work performed and maintain accurate records of services rendered.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to enhance service quality.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational training in automotive repair is a plus.
- Proven experience as an automotive glass technician or in a related field.
- Certification from a recognized organization (e.g., NGA Certified Technician) is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of automotive glass types, installation processes, and repair techniques.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and glass installation equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
