Job Brief
As an Athletic Events Scorer, you will officiate competitive athletic events, ensuring fair play by detecting rule infractions and administering penalties in accordance with established regulations. Responsibilities
- Officiate at various athletic events, including competitions and tournaments, to ensure adherence to established rules and regulations.
- Monitor game play and detect infractions, making timely decisions regarding penalties and rule violations.
- Communicate decisions clearly and confidently to participants, coaches, and spectators.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of scores, penalties, and any incidents occurring during the event.
- Collaborate with other officials and event organizers to ensure a smooth and fair competition.
- Stay updated on rule changes and modifications in the sport to ensure compliance.
- Assist in training and mentoring new officials, providing guidance on best practices in officiating.
- Exhibit professionalism and sportsmanship at all times, representing the integrity of the sport.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education in sports management or a related field is a plus.
- Certification in officiating or judging from a recognized organization.
- Proven experience as an official in competitive sports, with a comprehensive understanding of the rules.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills under high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse groups.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by sporting events.
- Physical fitness to maintain the pace of the game and perform necessary on-field duties.
