As an Arson Investigator, you will be responsible for inspecting buildings to identify fire hazards, enforce local ordinances, and adhere to state laws. Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough investigations of suspicious fires and explosions to determine their origin and cause.
  • Inspect fire scenes, collect evidence, and document findings using industry-standard protocols.
  • Interview witnesses, victims, and suspects to gather critical information for investigations.
  • Collaborate with local law enforcement, fire departments, and insurance companies during investigations.
  • Prepare detailed reports and present findings to law enforcement officials or in court as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of fire prevention laws and regulations, providing guidance to local authorities.
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on advancements in fire investigation techniques.
  • Educate the community on fire safety practices and prevention measures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in fire science, criminal justice, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in fire investigation or a related law enforcement role.
  • Certification as a Fire Investigator (e.g., IAAI-CFI, NAFI-CFI) is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of fire dynamics, combustion, and forensic analysis.
  • Proficient in investigative techniques and evidence collection methods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to analyze complex information and make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to various investigation sites as required.
