Job Brief
The Architectural Drafting Instructor is responsible for delivering comprehensive vocational training in architectural drafting techniques and principles to students who have graduated from or left high school. This role requires a solid understanding of construction processes, design software, and drafting standards. The ideal candidate will possess effective teaching skills, relevant industry experience, and the ability to engage students in a hands-on learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver course content in architectural drafting, focusing on both theoretical and practical applications.
- Utilize industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp to teach students essential drafting skills.
- Assess student progress through projects, assignments, and examinations to ensure comprehension of architectural principles.
- Provide individualized support and mentorship to students, fostering a positive learning environment.
- Stay current with emerging trends in architecture and construction to enhance curriculum relevance.
- Collaborate with fellow instructors to integrate interdisciplinary approaches into the vocational program.
- Organize and supervise field trips or industry visits to expose students to real-world architectural practices.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety regulations and best practices within the architectural field.
Requirements
- Proven experience in architectural drafting or a related field, with a strong portfolio of work.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Drafting Technology, or a related discipline preferred.
- Certification in relevant software applications (e.g., AutoCAD Certified Professional) is an advantage.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students.
- Prior teaching experience in vocational education is desirable.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage classroom dynamics.
