Job Brief

As an Animal Control Supervisor, you will oversee the operations of animal control services, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations regarding animal welfare. The ideal candidate will manage a team of animal control officers, develop policies and procedures for effective animal management, and engage with the community to promote responsible pet ownership and wildlife safety.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a team of animal control officers in daily operations and service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal animal control laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for efficient animal management.
  • Conduct training and performance evaluations for animal control staff.
  • Respond to public inquiries and complaints regarding animal control issues.
  • Coordinate rescue and rehabilitation efforts for injured or abandoned animals.
  • Maintain accurate records of animal control activities and incidents.
  • Promote community outreach programs to educate the public on responsible pet ownership.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in animal science, veterinary technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in animal control, law enforcement, or a related protective service role.
  • Knowledge of animal behavior, handling techniques, and welfare standards.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in high-stress situations and manage conflict effectively.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate animal control vehicles.
  • Certification in animal control or wildlife management is a plus.
