Job Brief
As an Animal Control Supervisor, you will oversee the operations of animal control services, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations regarding animal welfare. This role requires a strong background in animal control practices, leadership experience, and excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will manage a team of animal control officers, develop policies and procedures for effective animal management, and engage with the community to promote responsible pet ownership and wildlife safety.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead a team of animal control officers in daily operations and service delivery.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal animal control laws and regulations.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for efficient animal management.
- Conduct training and performance evaluations for animal control staff.
- Respond to public inquiries and complaints regarding animal control issues.
- Coordinate rescue and rehabilitation efforts for injured or abandoned animals.
- Maintain accurate records of animal control activities and incidents.
- Promote community outreach programs to educate the public on responsible pet ownership.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in animal science, veterinary technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in animal control, law enforcement, or a related protective service role.
- Knowledge of animal behavior, handling techniques, and welfare standards.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in high-stress situations and manage conflict effectively.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate animal control vehicles.
- Certification in animal control or wildlife management is a plus.
