Job Brief
The Ammonia Refrigeration Worker is responsible for operating and maintaining ammonia refrigeration systems to ensure efficient cooling and freezing processes for a variety of products including food, blood plasma, and chemicals. This role requires a solid understanding of refrigeration systems, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in ammonia systems and demonstrate strong technical skills to support operational excellence in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor ammonia refrigeration equipment including cooling and freezing units, batch freezers, and freezing tunnels.
- Perform regular maintenance and inspections on refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues in ammonia-based cooling systems.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations related to ammonia usage and handling.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment performance and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize refrigeration processes and improve efficiency.
- Respond promptly to system failures or malfunctions to minimize downtime.
- Assist in training new employees on safe operation and maintenance of refrigeration equipment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in refrigeration technology preferred.
- Proven experience operating ammonia refrigeration systems and equipment.
- Strong understanding of refrigeration principles and safety standards.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Certification in Hazardous Materials Handling or equivalent preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.
