Job Brief

As an Air Ambulance Captain, you will be responsible for piloting and navigating fixed-wing aircraft or helicopters on nonscheduled air carrier routes, ensuring the safe and efficient transport of patients in emergency situations. This role requires a Commercial Pilot certificate and a strong background in aviation operations. Key skills include exceptional decision-making, communication, and leadership capabilities, along with a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care during air transport.

Responsibilities

  • Pilot and navigate air ambulance flights in compliance with FAA regulations and safety protocols.
  • Conduct pre-flight inspections and ensure all aircraft systems are operational.
  • Communicate effectively with medical personnel, ground support, and air traffic control during all flight operations.
  • Maintain accurate flight logs, reports, and documentation as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Assess weather conditions and make informed decisions regarding flight safety and routing.
  • Train and mentor junior pilots and support staff on safety procedures and operational excellence.
  • Respond to emergency situations with professionalism and urgency, prioritizing patient safety and care.

Requirements

  • Valid Commercial Pilot certificate with appropriate ratings for fixed-wing aircraft and/or helicopters.
  • Minimum of 1,500 flight hours with experience in emergency medical services (EMS) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations and aviation safety standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with healthcare teams.
  • Ability to make quick, sound decisions under pressure and in rapidly changing environments.
  • Current certification in CPR and First Aid; additional medical training is a plus.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
