Job Brief
The Wire Annealer is responsible for setting up, operating, and tending various heating equipment to effectively temper, harden, anneal, or heat treat metal or plastic objects. Ideal candidates will possess hands-on experience with heat-treating furnaces, flame-hardening machines, and induction systems. A strong understanding of material properties and heat treatment processes is essential, along with the ability to monitor equipment performance and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate heat-treating furnaces, induction machines, and soaking pits to achieve desired material properties.
- Monitor and adjust heating parameters to ensure optimal annealing and hardening processes.
- Conduct regular maintenance and troubleshooting of heating equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of processing times, temperatures, and material specifications.
- Implement safety protocols and adhere to industry regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality control teams to optimize heat treatment processes.
- Inspect finished products for quality assurance and compliance with specifications.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in metallurgy or related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a Wire Annealer or in a similar role within the manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of heat treatment processes and equipment operation.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and schematics.
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulations related to heat treatment operations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
