Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Water Treatment Technician to manage and oversee the operation of water and wastewater treatment systems. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in monitoring treatment processes, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Key skills include a strong understanding of water quality management, troubleshooting capabilities, and proficiency in operating control boards to optimize the treatment process.
Responsibilities
- Operate and control water and wastewater treatment systems through the use of control panels and monitoring equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections of treatment facilities and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety standards.
- Monitor water quality parameters and chemical levels to maintain compliance with environmental regulations.
- Perform routine maintenance on treatment equipment and troubleshoot operational issues as they arise.
- Document operational data and prepare reports on system performance and water quality metrics.
- Collaborate with environmental engineers and other technicians to implement best practices in water treatment processes.
- Respond to emergencies and system failures, ensuring prompt resolution and minimal service disruption.
- Participate in training and development programs to stay current with industry advancements and technologies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a Water Treatment Technician or similar role in water management or wastewater treatment.
- Knowledge of water treatment processes, chemical treatments, and water quality testing procedures.
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory standards, including EPA and state environmental guidelines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in monitoring and reporting.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot control systems and treatment equipment effectively.
- Certification in water treatment or wastewater management is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
