Job Brief

As a Trash Collector, you will play a vital role in maintaining community cleanliness and environmental sustainability by collecting refuse and recyclable materials from designated containers and transporting them to waste management facilities. This position requires physical stamina, a strong attention to safety protocols, and the ability to operate collection vehicles. Ideal candidates will have previous experience in waste management or refuse collection and possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Collect trash and recyclable materials from residential, commercial, and industrial locations efficiently.
  • Operate and drive collection trucks while adhering to all safety regulations and traffic laws.
  • Dump collected refuse into designated waste management facilities or transfer stations.
  • Conduct routine inspections of collection equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any maintenance needs.
  • Engage with the public in a courteous manner, providing information and assistance as needed.
  • Participate in safety training and adhere to all safety protocols to minimize risks and hazards.
  • Maintain accurate records of collection routes, materials collected, and any incidents encountered during shifts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Previous experience in waste collection, recycling, or similar roles is a plus.
  • Strong physical fitness and ability to lift heavy loads regularly.
  • Demonstrated adherence to safety standards and protocols.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with local waste management regulations and recycling practices is advantageous.
