Job Brief
As a Special Education Aide, you will play a crucial support role in enhancing the educational experience for students with learning, emotional, or physical disabilities. Collaborating closely with teachers, you will assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), fostering academic, social, and life skills essential for development. Ideal candidates will possess a strong understanding of special education practices, patience, and adaptability to effectively meet the diverse needs of students.
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in delivering tailored instruction and educational support to students with disabilities.
- Implement and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to ensure compliance with educational standards.
- Support students in developing academic, social, and life skills in various classroom settings.
- Provide one-on-one or small group assistance to reinforce learning concepts and strategies.
- Observe and document student progress, behaviors, and challenges, reporting findings to the teacher.
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents to promote a supportive learning environment.
- Adapt teaching materials and classroom activities to meet individual student needs.
- Assist with daily living activities, including personal care and mobility, as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree or higher in education or related field preferred.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in educational settings is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of special education practices, behavioral management techniques, and learning strategies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with students and staff.
- Ability to remain calm and patient in high-stress situations, demonstrating emotional resilience.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is a plus.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and educational software is advantageous.
