Job Brief
As a Sous Chef, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Head Chef in the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring the exceptional preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes. Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation, seasoning, and cooking of a variety of food items, including salads, soups, fish, meats, and desserts.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to plan and price menu items, ensuring a balance of cost-efficiency and culinary creativity.
- Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and training to ensure high standards of food quality and safety.
- Maintain inventory levels by ordering supplies and ingredients as necessary, while keeping accurate records of food costs.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
- Monitor food presentation and quality, making adjustments to recipes and cooking techniques as needed.
- Assist in developing new recipes and menu items, contributing innovative ideas to enhance the dining experience.
- Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the overall development of the culinary team.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a professional kitchen environment.
- Strong culinary skills with proficiency in various cooking techniques and cuisines.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to lead and motivate kitchen staff in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred.
