Job Brief
As a Sewer Pipe Layer, you will play a vital role in the construction and maintenance of storm and sanitation sewer systems, water mains, and drainage solutions. This position requires hands-on expertise in grading trenches, positioning pipes, and sealing joints to ensure efficient water flow and environmental safety. Ideal candidates should have relevant experience in pipe laying and a strong understanding of construction safety practices, along with the ability to work in various environmental conditions.
Responsibilities
- Lay pipe for storm and sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains according to project specifications.
- Grade trenches or culverts to ensure proper alignment and drainage.
- Position and secure pipes in trenches, ensuring accurate depth and slope.
- Seal joints between pipes to prevent leaks and ensure system integrity.
- Collaborate with construction teams to coordinate pipe installation with other site activities.
- Follow safety regulations and best practices to maintain a safe work environment.
- Conduct regular inspections of installed pipes to identify and address any issues.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and report any malfunctions.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in plumbing or construction is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Sewer Pipe Layer or in a similar construction role.
- Knowledge of local plumbing codes and safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with trenching and shoring techniques.
- Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
- Certifications in safety training (e.g., OSHA) are preferred.
