Job Brief
As a Screed Operator, you will be responsible for operating specialized equipment used in the application of concrete, asphalt, and other materials for construction projects, including road beds, parking lots, and airport runways. This role requires proficiency in operating paving machines, tampers, and stone spreaders while ensuring adherence to safety protocols and project specifications. Ideal candidates will possess relevant experience in the construction industry, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate concrete and asphalt paving machines to apply materials accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure proper setup and calibration of equipment to meet project specifications.
- Monitor the application process to maintain quality and consistency of materials.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with site supervisors and crew members to coordinate work tasks.
- Follow safety regulations and protocols to prevent accidents and injuries on site.
- Keep detailed records of materials used and work performed for reporting purposes.
- Assist in the training of new team members on equipment operation and safety practices.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in construction preferred.
- Proven experience as a Screed Operator or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of asphalt and concrete application techniques and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and project specifications.
- Valid driver’s license and potentially a commercial driver’s license (CDL) depending on equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions.
- OSHA certification or equivalent safety training is a plus.
