Job Brief

As a Tinsmith, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing a variety of sheet metal products and equipment, including ducts, control boxes, drainpipes, and furnace casings. This role requires proficiency in operating fabricating machines, shaping metal using hand tools, and employing soldering and welding techniques to join sheet metal components. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail and a solid understanding of safety practices within the metalworking industry.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and assemble sheet metal products according to specifications and blueprints.
  • Operate fabricating machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal materials.
  • Shape and form metal using hammers, anvils, blocks, and other hand tools.
  • Utilize soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal parts securely.
  • Inspect and ensure the quality of finished products by examining seams and joints for smoothness and integrity.
  • Install prefabricated sheet metal ducts for heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to industry safety standards and protocols.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and other trades to complete projects on schedule.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in metalworking or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a tinsmith or in a similar metalworking role.
  • Strong knowledge of fabricating techniques, tools, and safety practices in the metal industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency in operating welding and soldering equipment.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Certification in welding or relevant metalworking skills is a plus.
