Job Brief

As a Stone Layer, you will play a vital role in constructing durable stone structures, including piers, walls, and abutments. Your expertise in laying walks, curbstones, and specialized masonry for vats, tanks, and floors will be essential in ensuring the integrity and aesthetic of various projects. Candidates should have a solid understanding of stone masonry techniques, possess relevant experience in construction, and demonstrate strong attention to detail to meet project specifications effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Construct and install stone structures, including walls, piers, and abutments, ensuring compliance with design specifications.
  • Lay and level stones, curbstones, and masonry for paths, driveways, and other surfaces.
  • Prepare surfaces for stone laying by cleaning and leveling the ground, ensuring a strong foundation.
  • Utilize appropriate tools and equipment to cut, shape, and fit stone materials accurately.
  • Collaborate with architects and project managers to interpret blueprints and project plans.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment, adhering to all safety regulations and protocols.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on existing stone structures as needed.
  • Estimate material requirements and costs for stone projects to assist in budgeting and procurement.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Stone Layer or similar role in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of stone types, masonry techniques, and construction standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools relevant to stone masonry.
  • Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in masonry is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
