I started this hobby/lifestyle late July 2023 and didn’t know anyone personally that could help me or point me in the right direction in regards to anything that had to do with birds. In my experience, it’s easier to go to an expert so that they can equip you with the basics and then you can venture out from there. I was ecstatic when I found out there was a bird store in Memphis! I went and was absolutely amazed at all of the pole systems, feeders, food, books, and TERRIFIC and knowledgeable staff that were there. I started visiting every few days or at least once a week since July since I’m constantly adding/changing my setups to accommodate the new birds that have found my little sanctuary. But, let’s be honest here. I can easily shop online and have everything delivered to my door like I typically do, but I would never get to experience the warmth and joy the staff bring if I went that route. From the manager, Eric, to all staff, they ALWAYS do the right thing and go beyond that. I’ve brought items that I bought from another retailer (because I specifically wanted a certain material for the item) and the staff happily installed it on my birdhouse. I truly love this store.

Amazing store they have so many items for any bird lover or nature lover. Everyone was so nice there and very helpful and knowledgeable.

I visited this WBU location while in town seeing family. I recently joined my local WBU and knew this was the place to go for advice solving my dad’s problem getting birds to come reliably to the feeder I made him that is set up in his backyard. I showed the staff pictures of his setup and asked for recommendations – and I definitely got them! During that visit, as a first recourse for my dad’s issue, I bought some of their bird seed for him to try out. After a couple of weeks – voila! The birds are visiting again. Guess they don’t care for big box bulk birdseed! Following this very positive encounter, I recently used the Memphis WBU website to order my dad a membership and a gift card. Since I live out of state, this was my only option. I was a little nervous how it would ship and if it would be clear to my dad what the gift was. I needn’t have worried. The store sent the membership info and the gift card and even included a small bonus item in the package. I thought maybe there was a free gift I hadn’t noticed would be included (WBU does this for members on occasion, btw). However, they mailed me a receipt with a handwritten note indicating they had included that gift in the package just as a nice extra touch. How thoughtful! You won’t find a place full of nicer, more knowledgeable people and an amazing selection of fresh (the key, I learned!) bird seed and other birding and garden goodies than at Wild Birds Unlimited. I highly recommend them and hope you will check them out!
