I am a starving college student, working part time to make ends meet. I met all the eligibility requirements for SNAP and they still denied me because apparently my “gross” income is 70$ over the maximum limit. Why do they calculate my income by gross, when they slash practically 5% of what little I earn? My entire check goes into rent, and whatever small amount that is left goes to me. I’m tired of paying so high in taxes, for it to go absolutely nowhere. The workers couldn’t care less about me and my well being. The worker laughed at me the second she heard me speaking over the phone. They think our suffering is a joke and I’m tired of being mistreated.

I am writing to formally contest the denial of my financial assistance request dated May 20, 2025, and to demand a full review of the facts, the decision, and the harm caused by your department’s failure to act in accordance with the law and basic human dignity. As a United States citizen with autism, I am protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. I am also a mother, a survivor of abuse, and someone who has consistently fought to provide for her children despite facing significant systemic and personal adversity Discrimination and Denial of Due Process I was denied financial assistance based on circumstances beyond my control, despite having no criminal findings, no formal charges, and no conviction that would justify withholding aid. I was treated as if I were guilty, without due process—something the Constitution explicitly forbids. This denial happened at the same time I was enduring emotional trauma, parental alienation, and disability-related shutdowns. I have been temporarily non-verbal due to stress, a documented symptom of autism when exposed to high emotional and sensory strain. I request, moving forward, that all communication be in writing as a reasonable accommodation. Financial & Emotional Damages Your decision not only violated my rights—it caused direct financial and emotional damage, including: • Loss of unemployment benefits owed to me during this period. • Out-of-pocket grocery costs that diverted funds needed for essential bills such as car payments. • A measurable decline in my mental and emotional health, including an autistic shutdown, which I am still recovering from. This emotional injury was triggered and intensified by your decision and the discriminatory handling of my case. I Am Demanding: 1. Full payment of unemployment benefits owed to me, retroactively and without delay. 2. Compensation for emotional distress, caused by your mishandling of my case and your failure to respect my rights as a neurodivergent individual and single mother in crisis. 3. A written statement outlining the legal basis for your denial, including all evidence used to justify the claim that I do not qualify for aid. 4. A written apology or official acknowledgment of the harm caused by the delay, denial, and lack of accommodation. 5. A commitment to communicate exclusively in writing due to my ADA-protected communication needs. Thank you. Respectfully, Helen CLONTS ☦️😘🇺🇸

My wife and I both have a permanent disability. I work part time and my wife doesn’t work or receive any income. She has a tbunch of prescriptions that are needed and the red tape is ridiculous. The DWS uses my information but shut off my wife’s Medicaid, which I had never seen a piece of mail or any notification about it. Calling is ridiculous and the amount of information needed for her is useless. SHE DOESN’T WORK, SO WHY IS A PERMANENT DISABILITY TREATED AS TEMPORARY! Please fix your whole system and don’t punish people who actually need the help. Also your website and phone system are absolutely useless and the employees are incompetent.
