I’ve been visiting this cafe for almost three years, mainly because it’s the most appealing independent cafe in Walton. I used to really enjoy coming here as the food was great and handy being local however during my recent visits the food has been average and lacked effort. For example, the food is poorly presented and portions are random, such as a huge amount of yoghurt smothering a tiny waffle.
The service now is mainly conducted by seemingly hungover teenagers who couldn’t care less whether you have a fork to eat your eggs Benedict.
Like similar reviewers I also don’t understand why the ‘dine in’ drinks are served in micro plastic laden disposable cups. Whilst they might be recyclable they aren’t a great option for the consumer.
The atmosphere can feel unwelcoming when eyes stare ar you when you walk in but no one says hello or good morning. Be prepared to awkwardly grab a menu from the front of the counter, order and collect the coffee yourself and pay around £40 for breakfast for two people.
Hopefully the owners can take on the constructive feedback, rather than response defensively and turn this place around as it used to be great.
