I have loved Hero’s since the first time I set foot in this public establishment. However today, this changed for one reason. It’s my understanding this is a PUBLIC RESTAURANT meaning not a PRIVATE bar. N.C. is in Phase 2 of reopening due to the COVID pandemic meaning NO PRIVATE bars should be open/operating(bars, not places that serve food and alcohol). I was there recently playing pinball drinking a coke(nonalcoholic) with one other person. I was there about an hour and had spoken to numerous staff in passing(no social distancing or masks were being enforced) but that didn’t seem like a problem. I was approached by someone calling themselves the owner. I am pro 2A and according to N.C. law, individuals that have a CCW permit lawfully obtained by the county of their residence are allowed to conceal a weapon for self defense in ANY public establishment that doesn’t have signs or notices explicitly prohibiting firearms. The owner claimed HEROS is a private establishment and they did not want firearms in their establishment. According to N.C. law, a private establishment requires a sign in sheet and/or require a membership fee. Hero’s IS NOT a private establishment and if they are 1. They are not permitted to be open during phase 2 and 2. they would require their MEMBERS to sign in. I was asked to leave due to the owner infringing on my constitutional rights under the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution. I’ve reached out to the health department and three other agencies due to this event. If you’re a supporter of any of your rights, I would strongly reconsider this PUBLIC establishment because if they’ll impose on a constitutional amendment, they will absolutely do whatever they want in a given situation. Hopefully no one else experiences any kind of bias at this establishment.
