I have had time to reflect on this review and believe it important to share my experience, as the inattention to detail caused me a lot of stress. I have decided for now not to post the names of the individuals that were responsible for my poor experience. I was referred to TPI group through my partner’s financial advisor. I had very simple issues and needed a personal tax return prepared and filed. Despite 5 conversations on the topic, TPI Group improperly claimed my child on my taxes when it was not my year to claim her, which was in violation of my divorce settlement agreement. I was placated when the accountant agreed to file an amended return. However, when I followed up 2 months later, the return had not been filed and the accountant acted like she did not know what I was talking about. When I forwarded her our email correspondence, she apologized and said that she would get it prepared right away. Despite this, it was still not prepared when I followed up 2 weeks later. Rather than owning her mistake like a professional, she gave me the excuse that she was busy with other returns. She then filed the amended return with the incorrect address and information. When I pointed this out, she still demanded that I sign the return because the refund would be the same. As an attorney, I will not sign under the penalty of perjury that all information is true and correct when it is not. I have yet to receive the refund months later. Prior to this incident, I knew that I would be opening my solo firm later in the year and wanted to speak with the accountant who would handle the business return. She did not leave me with a good impression because she was very condescending. I saw another 1 star review on Google regarding this same accountant. She also did not respond when I sent her the confirmation that I had incorporated my entity and was ready to talk. I have still not received my tax refund because it was mailed to the wrong address since the amended return was filed without even being approved by me. I am working with the IRS on the issue, but it has been months at this point. I was so disappointed by the entire experience…and management was cc’d on the correspondence with the more junior accountant and never reached out to make it right.
