I worked for / through Bob Taylor’s family owned business for more nearly half of a 40 something years career. It is the family aspect that separates their business from the “Mouse House” atmosphere of the national shops, where your resume is picked by computer based on a particular catch word or two.
For example, 40 something years ago, I worked for and mentored under Bill Edwards of Edwards Engineering (the pioneer of cryogenic gas plants), and have done many Cryogenic Gas projects along the way.
A friend (PM) wanted me to come onto a huge LNG plant project and the National shop tossed my resume because it did not have the initials LNG or phrase “Liquefied Natural Gas”. Hint; cryogenically separated Methane is pure LNG.
I my experience, rather than shotgun your resume to every shop in the world, make friends with ONE good small shop. Remember that your shop is judged by everything you do, so represent them well. Do good work. Repeat.
