Philipsburg, the capital of Dutch St. Maarten, is a vibrant and picturesque Caribbean town with plenty to offer visitors. From its colorful buildings and bustling markets to its stunning beaches and turquoise waters, Philipsburg is a feast for the senses.
However, my experience was somewhat marred by the rude behavior of some taxi drivers. While not all were unpleasant, a few were pushy and aggressive in their attempts to secure our business.
That being said, there’s still much to love about Philipsburg. The food scene is fantastic, with a wide range of options from local seafood to international cuisine. And the shopping is not to be missed, with duty-free bargains on everything from jewelry to electronics.
Overall, Philipsburg is a lovely destination with a few rough edges. While the taxi situation could use improvement, the town’s many charms more than make up for it.
