I studied dental nursing with SmileWisdom, and I would not recommend their course… Priced at around £1,700 (excluding the ROE exam fees, which are £510), it is one of the more expensive providers, but I believe this price is unjustified. When making such a financial commitment, you’d expect excellent service, but unfortunately, that is not the case. The online lectures are extremely long and unengaging. The tutor spends the entire two-hour class simply reading from the PowerPoint slides, which is not an effective teaching method. Despite the length of the lectures, students are not provided with class notes and are expected to create their own. It’s unreasonable to expect students to listen attentively to new information for two hours while also taking comprehensive notes. The only alternative is to re-watch the lengthy lecture, which is difficult to fit in, especially when balancing a job and other commitments. The course would greatly benefit from being more engaging, presenting the information in a more digestible format, and providing students with proper course materials. Additionally, it’s important to be aware that if you fail your exam but have completed the course, you will still be expected to pay the monthly fee until the next exam, which is 5-7 months later. This adds an additional cost of £850-£1,050. I was unaware of this policy before enrolling, and it came as a surprise, especially since one of my colleagues resat the exam without incurring any extra charges. Another issue with SmileWisdom is their mock exam, which takes place a few months before the actual exam. Failing the mock exam results in your exam date being postponed, leading to additional fees. I find this to be unfair, as significant improvements can be made within those few months. Students should have the right to decide for themselves whether they are ready for the real exam, rather than being blocked from progressing based on one mock. This policy only adds to the financial burden without truly supporting the student’s development. Overall, I find their teaching methods outdated and difficult to follow, and their student support could be significantly improved. In hindsight, I wish I had researched other institutes more thoroughly. Competitors offer features like short revision videos, revision notes, and question booklets to test your understanding after each chapter, all of which I found lacking in SmileWisdom’s course. For these reasons, I cannot recommend SmileWisdom for dental nursing training. I advise others to explore alternative institutes with better support, clearer policies, and more engaging teaching methods to ensure a more student-friendly experience.

Thank you Liz and Debbie for your kind encouragement and guidance throughout my NEBDN Radiography journey. However, I would have been very grateful if we (students) had received more support during the exam prep.

This is my first bad review ever. The school is not that bad, but after encountering the issue, they failed to react appropriately to the situation. I take my responsibility, as a student who didn’t collected all cases on time. But they didn’t take the responsibility from their part: {1} failing to inform me about the deferral system with NEBDN, not being clear on that, {2} I was being kept in the dark for about the year that my old cases got expired – (will get inspired) that they won’t be accepted, even if I collect all of them, I will still have to start again. {3} The school, based on what they said, doesn’t have resources to help their students who are struggling like me. They say, they did everything they could. And that is: sending couple of videos on how pebble pad works, where I kept saying and asking for help, and no one got in touch with me. The marking system is flawed, as the timings to mark student’s work do not reflect the real life situations and students who need to be marked more urgently, get pushed to the end and never got marked, – I haven’t received any feedback, and I supplied lot’s of work. I don’t understand, why I need the school to complete NEBDN, as I was doing everything by myself! Fair enough, the lectures with Eva were helpful on my first year gave me. It was interesting and she made sure every student has all their answers answered. She also allowed me to stay for free for the next year, as I didn’t have my cases and differed the exam. So, that’s the positive part about the school. Plus, another colleague also find me the job position with implants, which was a very positive thing as well. (I couldn’t afford that, as it was too far for me though). As a student, who paid for my course, I’m allowed to say, I think, that in general I’m very disappointed with this school – {4} the way they refused to help me, to collaborate with me, to offer me anything else (e.g. to explain the learning platform to me personally, not via prerecorded video where I cannot ask real questions I have about how it works and actual challenges I’m facing) besides enrolling again with them or another provider, – and only after I asked, as my initial email was only saying, that I’m removed from the course, and that’s it. They won’t refund me my money, as they did everything they could. But I have the right to say, as a customer, that their service is not good enough, and if you considering enrolling here choose someone else, go by recommendations, as these guys don’t have resources to look after their students. Or even to address the problem – they don’t know how.
