We chose HC in mid November to complete a small project the week before Christmas. They assured me that this would not be a problem and my target completion date would be achieved. Well….:my Dec 23 deadline didn’t happen. I’m happy to report that the project was finally completed on Jan 22nd. A full month past the deadline. This was not a kitchen or bathroom remodel. This simply adding some Crown to 3 rooms, rebuilding a fireplace mantle, some small built in cabinets next to the fireplace and a small built in desk in one of the bedrooms. Should have been a 5 day project according to all other bids. In the end, the work turned out nicely and our contractor was very pleasant to work with, just painfully slow which created a major inconvenience for us over the holidays when we had company in the home. Just know that HC is simply a quasi-GC. They do not self perform the work, they hire subs of which they have no oversight. I have a second project to complete in 2024 but will not use HC the second time around. The one positive was that HC did reduce my interim payments down due to the delays. But that just hurt my sub and probably ended up slowing him down even more.

Johnathon Ortega arrived as scheduled, assessed the situation, left for materials, returned and completed the job in a timely manner. He was very professional in his approach, went over the work performed and cleaned up the area, all to my satisfaction.

My experience so far: 1) instructed me to buy the wrong size screen door 2) installed it with a custom frame that leaves a gap at the bottom of the door 3) lost the installation kit for the door handle 4) not responding to text messages 5) not picking up the phone when I call I am left with an improperly installed screen door that has no handle. I’m writing this review hoping they might read it and decide to contact me so we can finish the project. UPDATE (March 2025): Avery contacted me a few times to apologize and say he wanted to make things right. He then wrote a response to this review. I haven’t heard from him since. Very disappointing.
