I wasn’t going to write a review, but to this day, it still annoys me that I wasted my time.
I enrolled in Skill Hire’s Carpentry course, which required me to leave midway through Year 11 due to its Monday–Thursday schedule. The course itself was great, I had a lot of fun, made new friends, and always had a laugh with the trainer. That’s why I’m giving it two stars.
However, when it came to completing my work placement (150 hours required to receive the $500 payment and my Carpentry Certificate), they never provided one. This was supposed to happen in early September, and I kept emailing them back and forth, but eventually, they stopped responding.
Fast forward to November, and I suddenly received a few phone calls from the administration team, as well as someone from Joondalup’s Skill Hire office, asking if I had found a work placement. (I had been searching on my own and had sent them my attempts, but they kept telling me they’d get back to me.) I told them they still haven’t provided me with one. By the end of November, I emailed them, saying that if they couldn’t secure a placement before New Year’s, I wouldn’t be able to continue the course since I was starting a new one in January.
Sure enough, January arrived, I had already started my new course, and that’s when they finally emailed me, after four months, saying they had found me a placement. This was despite promising one back in September.
It’s frustrating because I paid the $250 course fee but got no work experience, no follow-through on their promises, and terrible communication. On top of that, I couldn’t re-enroll in school to complete Year 12 and graduate because they kept me waiting for so long, ultimately wasting half my year. (I had an NOA with the school saying I would return at the end of the year to complete year 11 and move onto year 12)
Loved AJ and the foodtruckt though
