Recruiter contacted me through my listing on a website. We had a long phone interview and she insisted I come in to the office next day to continue about the position. I did go in. Waited in the lobby for about 20 minutes while she made a manicure appointment very loudly on speaker phone. Interviewed me again. Said she did not remember anything I said on the phone the day before because she talks to so many people. Said she couldn’t possibly submit me for the position because of last position – all information we had discussed the day before. Not my first confusing experience with Spencer Reed – thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt. Last time.

Clearly it’s been a while since anyone has posted anything. I was contacted for a position. Day before the interview, Covid struck my household. Moved the interview to the following week (8/29/23). Went through the interview, and this company only wanted to know my excel skills – absolutely nothing else I’ve done in my career, just excel, like I’m a college student. Then the test is given, and sure, we know how to do pivot tables and vlookups, but their examples were tailored to their business. Newsflash / not everyone knows everything about excel. If you utilize it in a way for your own reports, how is anyone supposed to know this? Plus, the company, when they were doing the vlookup… confusing as all get out bc how they were doing it wasn’t the way I was taught, so there must be some new way to do excel now. Back to the recruiter – Mind you, covid is running through my house. I’m doing everything to keep 2 people alive and myself healthy. Asked for references. I could only find 1 reference in 7 days – then I was told that the reference I gave wasn’t good enough. They didn’t even call. Reasoning? It wasn’t a position on my resume. Yeah? It was already 2 pages, do you want my entire work history for the last 25 years with everyone’s name I came across? People. Learn fn common sense. Chelle or whatever her name was, is rude as all get out. I get hammered for only providing 1 reference at this time, which does speak to my abilities… but nah. So, I called the place where the job was at, and apologized that the recruiter and I got into an argument, so I withdrew. Now I’ve wasted more than 2 weeks, and I’m still without a job that I know I did well in, interview wise. Don’t talk to people like they’re dumb children, and you may not have a frustrated and irate client on the other side. However who does this affect? Not them. Just me. No recourse at all. How does anyone sleep at night, knowing they screwed someone over out of a job that they were well qualified for……. But you didn’t have the 2nd reference right away. Get over yourself. It’s 2023. People do not give references if they’re bad – only good ones. So what’s the fn point anymore anyway? That’s fine. It’s not their paychecks they’re messing around with, so they think they won’t have any action towards them. They’re wrong. Staffing agencies need to have set regulations, not just what they feel like from day to day. It’s time it changed for the better. Recruiters are the problem, not the client.

Very disappointed! Went in for a in person interview had a very professional demeanor & attire! Decorated resume with experience in position I applied for. No call back left voicemails everyday to check on jobs and was promised I’d receive feedback but no one ever took the time to follow up! I have the education and experience, even if the answer was NO it’s called commen courtesy to at least call someone back to communicate the decision! Waste of my time so people don’t waste yours! If your my skin color you will definitely be discriminated against!!!
