Changing my view and rating of this office.
My son was originally seen by Dr. Colon, who was absolutely wonderful—compassionate, thorough, and attentive. The staff was also friendly and helpful. However, after Dr. Colon moved to another office, we continued care at this location and saw Dr. Taylor. Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Taylor and the billing practices here have been deeply disappointing.
During my son’s annual wellness visit, I was charged a copay simply for asking how he was doing and expressing a few general concerns—something any parent would naturally do during a well-child check. I later received a bill and, when I contacted the billing office, I was told that my questions were not part of the wellness visit and were considered “extra,” thus triggering an additional charge.
To be clear, I was not advised beforehand that voicing concerns or responding to the doctor’s questions could result in separate billing. If discussing your child’s health with their pediatrician during a scheduled wellness visit leads to unexpected charges, it raises the question: are parents just supposed to sit in silence during the appointment?
My child has been seen at this office before for sick visits, and this wellness check naturally included follow-up on previous issues. I was even given a referral to an ENT specialist during the appointment—which further proves that the discussion was medically relevant.
To add to the frustration, my attempt to dispute the charge was denied.
I have never experienced anything like this with my own doctors or previous pediatricians. This situation was unacceptable, and I will no longer be bringing my child here. I also plan to file a formal complaint with my insurance provider.
I cannot in good conscience recommend this office to any other families.
