The first time at Akbar’s, went as it was close to the Castlefield Bowl. Firstly, staff were friendly and accommodating. The interior was a little dated and felt dark inside. The food was OK, but I can not say was great. Didn’t really like the pilau rice. it seemed more Chinese style. The curries were OK, but I can’t say they felt like they were freshly made. Enough chicken in the dish, but it just seemed like it had been made a good while earlier and just left simmering, etc. I could be wrong, just how it seemed. Probably wouldn’t go back quickly, but it served a purpose on the day. Thank you.

One of the best or rather the best Indian restaurants in Manchester! I thoroughly loved this place. The moment you step in, it feels like entering a crowded market. Everyone out there is excitedly talking and busy with their food. The best part is, if someone celebrates their birthday, the entire restaurant erupts into a celebration mode and sings for the person. That was very special and unique in this place. The staff are courteous and helpful. I’m usually not a fan of butter chicken, but the butter chicken in this place was lips smacking! It was spicy, creamy and exactly the way I love it. Keep up the amazing work! I wish you guys would open a branch in India as well.

Food was average, but the service was absolutely rubbish. 👎🏾 Food: Curries were no good. Chicken tikka starters seemed like they were fried? Lamb chops were nice though – I don’t really eat them, but the mandem confirmed them at an 8.5/10. Other than that, nothing special. The rest of the food was under a 5/10. I gave them a second chance based on past experience, but the curries still lack flavour. Honestly, if you’re thinking about ordering curries, just cook at home – message me and I’ll give you a recipe that’s ten times better (no toilets will be destroyed). Also, no sauces were given – what restaurant serves starters without sauces? Service: Main course came out first, starters came out ten minutes later. Asked for a jug of water – never received it. They sent out J2Os without shaking it, so we sent it back. Not even sure if they gave us fresh ones or just stuck their thumbs on top and shook it in the kitchen. I guess we’ll never know 🤷🏾‍♂️ Hopefully, they had clean hands and no butts were scratched or bogeys picked. 🙏🏾 Atmosphere: Very hectic. Seating arrangements are awkward. You can’t even take photos because people start looking at you like you’re trying to take a photo of them. Tables are tiny. Chairs are okay, but the next table is basically part of yours – feels like one big communal place. If you’re not in a booth, you’ve probably got about 20cm between you and the next table. Unfortunately, there was no redemption here after the last time. I feel sorry for anyone coming here for curry – make sure you have the 🧻 ready. Good luck. May the Almighty protect you. Akbars, if you want a redemption number 3, you’re going to have to be on treats next time – because I ain’t paying for that 💩 For now, I’d recommend you land yourselves at Jilanis instead – similar food, better price, better service. Don’t say I don’t look out for you boys. 🫡
