I’ve taken three exams here within the past month and have had a generally positive experience each time.
Testing center is located on the 5th floor and when you walk in they will have you sit down in a waiting area to the right and fill out a clipboard (usually they already have them sitting on the chairs). The code to the bathrooms for that floor (located near the elevators) is posted on the wall of the waiting area if you need to go prior to check-in. A quick note that the number of people taking tests can vary a great deal. The first time I took a test, there were probably over 30 people waiting to be called up whereas the second/third time there was only one other person. Apparently it just depends on if certain agencies are hiring (i.e. TSA).
After you fill out the clipboard, they’ll call you up based on the order of your arrival to verify a couple of things, get ID, etc. During check-in you’ll have to empty your pockets and turn off all electronic devices. They have small lockers that they will have you put your personal belongings/electronics in (they’ll issue you the key). After check-in, they’ll send you back to your test.
There are three ladies working who were all pretty nice. I will say that prior to my first test, the person checking me in tried to give me the wrong testing booklet. When I asked her about it though one of her co-workers had already gotten the correct booklet out prior to my arrival and set it aside for me. So no issues in the end (just maybe double check to make sure you have the correct booklet if you’re taking an FAA exam).
