A nice family restaurant that we visited on a Friday night. Ordered several of the staples and was especially looking forward to the chicken fried chicken but the texture made me think they sandbagged about 50 or so orders before the doors opened for dinner and then kept them under the heat lamp, plating them up as the orders came in. It was tough and low on flavor. The gravy was underwhelming–most likely a box mix–but don’t quote me on that, just a professional guess. Roasted broccoli was steamed, not roasted as described on the menu. Maybe it was steamed first and finished for a few seconds under the broiler, and if so it’s a mere technicality that it’s called roasted. Fish and chips were terrific! Loved the blue cheese dressing on the salad. The server let us know that all desserts are purchased elsewhere (I asked if they were made in-house), but they tasted really good. Staff was friendly and super efficient. Reasonable prices for everything.
The long-suffering, screaming baby at the table behind us wasn’t the restaurant’s fault, just the result of parents who don’t care about anyone else around them. A looming threat from Jesus on the billboard in the parking lot was an area-appropriate and hilarious ending to the night.
Overall, a good independently-owned restaurant doing fine work.
