So I recently started working with this staffing agency in property management / concierge work while I wait for a job clearance for another full-time position out of state. Pay is not the greatest but, payroll is every week so that’s cool. I wish they would pay us as 1099 gig contractors because that is essentially what the nature of the work is. They are very strict on dress code which is understandable for front desk concierge work. Shift availability varies so much, turns out to be closer to part-time if you aren’t willing to commit to long term assignments. It’s really just a gamble on what’s available week – to – week. So don’t expect to make full time money if you aren’t willing to commit long-term. And if you are, you’re probably better off working directly with these properties in-house, the pay/benefits might be better. Just my 2 cents. 3.5 starts is my honest take so far.

I have worked with them for a few years and there was some good and some bad. Here is the good. Whenever I called about a question or concern they were very helpful, friendly and always gave me respect. When I would check in they would usually say how good I look and to have a great day with a smile. Here is the bad. They were EXTREMELY particular about the dress code, for example they would periodically tell me to please tighten my tie or wear my blazer even though my blazer WAS on. One day there was a snow day and they sent everyone a text saying that anyone who doesn’t feel comfortable driving needs to a taxi or the metro and that a call out would immediately result in an immediate termination. This is absolutely ridiculous because my assignment was in the package room, no packages were going to come that day because it was MLK day and I don’t even live close to the metro. That day it was almost a FOOT of snow. The last thing is that the property that I worked at with them hired me directly and I tried to call NVT and let them know that I got hired directly, but when I called them to tell them that Mitch answerd and told me that the property has to call them to tell them which makes no sense. My property never called them, so I asked Mitch if they can call the property, but they never did, so I got paid from both NVT and my new company at my property one week. One day I only clocked into my new company and Marisa calls me and gives me an attitude for not clocking into NVT. NVT would be good to work for if you need a temporary job, but I won’t recommend them for a long term job. They do the best they can and they are very nice to their responsible employees like me, but they need to make some serious improvements in their communication skills and ease their strictness because they are EXTREMELY strict.

If you’re actively on the market and looking for a job (temporary/part time or whatever), look elsewhere!!! These people are very rude and have no personality. I had the unfortunate experience (on three separate occasions) with a so-called staffing coordinator, and both men were extremely rude over the phone. For my recent call, the man got angry when I asked for his information in reference to next steps in the process. My call ended with feelings of dismay and disgust. I’m pretty sure their clients feel the same way. Bottom line, LOOK ELSEWHERE! There are dozens of employment agencies all over the region you can choose from. As a jobseeker, you should never feel discouraged based on someone else’s insecurity and rudeness. Most of all, you should never waste your time with NVT Staffing. There are many other professional agencies out there aside from this one.
