I had such a wonderful experience at the Manatee Viewing Center! It’s a beautiful and relaxing spot to connect with nature, and the best part is that it’s completely free! While the stingray pool is no longer open, the manatees more than made up for it. Watching these gentle giants up close was an incredible experience. The staff is friendly, and the educational displays really help you appreciate the importance of preserving these amazing creatures. The views are stunning, and it’s just an all-around peaceful environment. Whether you’re a local or visiting, I highly recommend spending a few hours here to enjoy the manatees and the serene surroundings!

The manatee viewing center is a top notch off-the-beaten path site for Tampa Bay locals and visitors.
We only saw one manatee during our visit and it was pretty well out into the water.
But that was OK. We did see some sharks as we made our way along the tidal boardwalk that gives you that old Florida vibe before the sunshine state was overrun with development.
Best of all, it is free! Highly recommended!

What an amazing experience! I’m from the Northeast US and have never seen manatees in person. We visited this past weekend while on holiday to Florida. The water is getting warmer already in Florida so we only saw 30 or so manatees but a few came right up to the dock we were standing on. Locals told us the best time to visit to see hundreds of manatees is December-January, but I was still very impressed. The experience is FREE! We had to park on overflow parking but they had large golf cart shuttles to and from the entrance so it was very convenient. This is an absolute must visit!
