I found the career counselling and info sessions/online workshops to be really useful for understanding and articulating my value, coming out of a redundancy and heading into interviews. Following the sessions and training refreshers, I had a good strike rate of securing interviews for jobs I applied for, and I applied for and secured a job with a higher salary than I had benchmarked for myself. Worthwhile.

This is a service that was provided to me by my former employer. I see its value for people who want to retire or become consultants after having a long career in corporate/ government as it seems like most of what they offer is geared at career transition towards consulting and retirement. If you are someone that is looking for another job – this service is not useful. The advice my coach Jennifer provided me was out of date and not suitable for the current job market, with recruiters in the industry recommending that I change my resume and cover letter back to what it was before I started the program. Since I changed my resume and cover letter back to what it was I have got more traction during the job search. I feel like I have wasted close to five months following the advice of a program that is not suited to current job seekers. It definitely did not accelerate my job search – but rather set it back. If you are offered this program by your employer be wary of it unless you are what I described above or you want your former employer to pay for things for you after you have left the company.
