Bought Hankook tires for a 2018 Elantra in late 2022 with a warranty of 50,000 miles. 2.5 years and 30,000 miles later the tire tread is separating and the tires are dry rotting. Looking at the tires, the service dept. put on old tires that where made in 2020. Went to the service department to see if there was anything they could do, but all they offered was another set of tires at full price. The manufacturer doesn’t warranty against dry rot. Don’t let them sell you old tires and put you and your family at risk!
Update – Johnson Hyundai offered to split the cost on a “NEW” set of tires. After I discussed it on the phone with the service manager and in person with the service advisor to ensure I recv’d new tires, and I was told I would, the “New” set of tires is this time over 2 years old. They were manufactured in Feb 2023 and put on April 25. The Johnson Hyundai General Manager called and tried to tell me all the new cars on the lot have tires that were made 2 years ago. Our 23 Sante Fe made in early Feb 23 has tires manufactured in Nov 22… so much for that. Again, don’t let them sell you old tires as new and put you and your family at risk.
