Professional fundraising company that works with major charities in Canada. They work with a set budget, allocated by the charity for phone campaigns. THERE ARE NO COMMISSIONS PAID ON ANY DONATIONS RECEIVED. Donations go directly to the charity.
It is more cost effective for a charity to work with a professional fundraising organization than to try and set-up an entire infrastructure themselves, (ie office space, phone and computer systems, hiring, training etc). This is why charities use professional fundraising companies. 100% OF FUNDS RAISED GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHARITY.

they are for profit by inserting themselves between the charity and the givers of money and take a commission from it. Most of the people calling for donations taking credit cards and banking info are working inside their homes.
